IBMT hosts annual fall conference

Indiana Blood and Marrow Transplantation will hold its Third annual Hematopoietic Stem Cell Therapy Seminar at the new downtown Indianapolis Adam's Mark Hotel on Friday, Nov. 10 from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Keynote speaker Dr. Andrew Krueger, Humana's medical director-transplant management, will explore the components that medical directors target in assessing provider programs for potential network membership.
The educational half-day seminar, developed to meet the needs of case managers and nurses who care for bone marrow transplant patients, is held annually at a central location in Indianapolis.
IBMT's goals for the program are to keep audiences abreast of new developments - both clinical and fiscal - in the changing world of bone marrow transplantation. Content in the first two conferences ranged from a very basic clinical orientation to in-depth examination of factors effecting cost efficiency.
The seminar facilitates payor / providor communication and has been well received by the regional attendees coming from the Indianapolis area as well as Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Chicago areas. In addition to the didactic sessions, an interactive portion utilitizing an audience response system (ARS) has been added.
New this year, the ARS system will allow instant feedback measurement and help focus group discussion on controversial issues.

The conference will be held at the brand new Adam's Mark Hotel in beautiful downtown Indianapolis.

"There appears to be a significant need for direct payor / providor communication in a forum of this type. In the evaluations, we have been asked to increase the frequency to semiannual, holding a conference in the spring as well as in the fall. The seminars are especially enjoyable because education is provided in an informal social setting with lots of group interaction," said Judi Woodrupp, conference coordinator.
Previous conferences have been approved for 5.1 contact hours by the Indiana State Nurse's Association and / or the Case Management Society of America. Applications to these bodies for C.E.U. credit are in progress.
